Eurofins Medigenomix offers gene expression analysis using quantitative real time PCR – either for specific single target genes or alternatively for groups of target genes. Expression analysis aims at the quantitative measurement of mRNA expression of defined target genes, for example prior to and under drug therapy or after administration of compound candidates in the pre-clinical phase of drug development.

For example RNA is extracted out of blood samples. Alternatively, RNA provided by the customer is used as starting material.

If certain target genes have not been included in the assay portfolio of Eurofins Medigenomix yet, then specific primer-probe combinations are developed and validated for these genes. Alternatively, commercially available assays can be used, which are likewise validated before.

In order to make a reliable statement about the expression level of the respective target genes, a premature RNA degradation, which starts immediately with the sampling process, must be prevented at all costs. For this purpose we recommend usage of special sample collection systems, e.g. blood sample collection tubes with a RNA stabilizing agent.
