The ISO 17025 accreditation comprises testing in the field of "Forensic Genetics, Veterinary Molecular Diagnostics and Food Authenticity". These accredited areas were substantially extended by the "Analysis of biological sample material". Also the test methods, in addition to PCR methods (polymerase chain reaction) were extended. SNP Genotyping (single nucleotide polymorphism) with high-throughput capable arrays and detection by mass spectroscopy is a considerable expansion (platform: Sequenom MassARRAY^® iPLEX Gold, MALDI-TOF MS).
The field fo Forensic Genetics has been extended with the DNA analysis of crime scene samples. The accreditation for such forensic DNA analysis is an important step to grow the market share in DNA forensics with DNA analysis of crime scene and stain samples.
